• Jonathan Bauch
    The Steel Sculptor

Jonathan strives for an interplay between imagination, emotion and intellect in his art.

His body of Sculpture spans forty years. Jonathan currently teaches welded sculpture at the Educational Alliance Art School where he was Artist in Residence during 2004-2005 in a program funded by the Abrons Art Center.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Bauch graduated from Parsons School of Design in 1961.  He studied painting at NYU and the School of Visual Arts, and sculpture at The Educational Alliance.

His early work as a painter evolved into aluminum and wire mesh relief  sculpture with colored lights. Since 2000, he has created approximately 70 works in welded steel, many painted with enamel. These raw, expressive free shapes draw inspiration from forms in nature as well as the physical properties of the metal itself.

Jonathan has exhibited mostly in New York City and the metro area including New England.
